BLOOD DONATION DRIVE AT RENAISSANCE MELAKA HOTEL

MELAKA, May 2010 – Every three seconds someone needs blood. Human blood has no substitute, just one pint of donated blood can help save as many as three people’s lives.

In collaboration with Melaka General Hospital’s Blood Bank, Renaissance Melaka Hotel will be organizing its annual blood donation drive on Wednesday, 19 May 2010 at the hotel Ballroom, level 7, from 10.00am to 4.00pm. This annual blood donation drive aims to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and to encourage regular blood donation by suitable donors. The drive is to be held in conjunction with ‘Marriott Associates Appreciation Week’ which will be celebrated from 17 to 21 May 2010.

General Manager of the hotel Ms Vathsala Subramaniam said about the collaboration: “As a community focused company we always look for ways to contribute to the community we’re part of, and there’s no better way than being able to make a difference to something as vital as this.”

“They’re constantly in need of blood at the Melaka General Hospital, so we’re pleased to be able to help provide somewhere for people to come and donate. Staffs from the hotel are also set to donate over the one day campaign, helping increase the amount collected and adding important blood to the bank,” she added.

Anyone who is between 18 to 60 years of age, in good health and interval between your last donations is more than 3 months is eligible to donate blood. Health screening will need to be completed before giving blood to ensure the safety of the blood supply from the donor.

Renaissance Melaka Hotel is extending invitations to the public to be a part of this blood drive. A simple gesture would help save someone in need.
