It is not easy to watch Malaysian Chinese performing their true heritage wedding ritual. You can see all the bridal gallery are full with modern themes and because they do the ceremonies in church or hotel. Yesterday one Chinese couple decided to get married through the ancient Chinese wedding rituals. The wedding ceremony happen at Cheng Ho Tea House in Jalan Kampung Kuli Melaka and was reported in The Star Newspaper here.

One company come out with an Idea to promote wedding as tourism attraction and to boost industries related to it. For example this event can be the opportunity to promote Melaka as honeymoon destination. So they decided to organized World Wedding Celebration (WWF 2010) that will be held on 5 to 11 December 2010.
This event will involve 34 couples that consist 14 couples from throughout Malaysia, 10 from the corporate and 10 more from other countries. On the Wedding, about 360 expo booth available to promote weddings equipment in and from foreign companies.

From many traditional Malay customs, weddings is the most colorful. Traditional weddings integrate customary practice, traditional music, locals song, dance and costumes… all put together to form a traditional marriage. Melaka is famous for its unique old style weddings that include several ceremonies for one weddings.
Now we go through the process:
In the old days, marriage were often arranged by parents. Womens were well kept in the house with little chance to go out hanging around with boys. When men want a wife in those days, they will ask their parents to seek a bride for them. The first thing parent will do is ‘Spying’ on the target house (girl). There will be an espionage by the mother and a formal visit by both father and mother to the bridegroom in waiting house.
