Instead of using the ATR, now we can fly using Boeing with Riau Airlines from Melaka International Airport. This flight come with a package. They currently work out a deal with one of the Melaka Travel Agencies to setup the package. The destination will be Melaka-Pekanbaru-Jakarta (2 way).

This is the second Airlines operating in Melaka for the new airport. Wings Air using Brand new aircraft (ATR72-500) fly into Melaka from 9 July 2010.

Pekan Baru (PKU) 1025 Melaka (MKZ) 1215
Melaka (MKZ) 1245 Pekan Baru 1235
Daily flight from Pekan Baru – Melaka – Pekan Baru but with Wings Air you can Connect to Jakarta : Depart Pekan Baru at 1440 and Arrive Jakarta (JKT) 1620.
Price for one way Melaka – Pekan baru is RM214.

I knew that all Malaysian travelers are aware about the Melaka Airport at Batu Berendam. Now, the airport is known as Melaka International Airport and until now, it only have Riau Airlines, flight from Pekanbaru, Indonesia. But, Melaka needs more airline coming and land in Melaka. We have all the facilities and the state government really passionate about this airport.
The state government will give support for the airlines that want to operate in Melaka. So, any airlines company interested at Melaka International airport? You can give the ideas, how to make this thing happen. A new business model for this airport. Again a little information about the airport.

The first flight will be from Melaka to Medan. When building an airport, It will not be easy as like building a bus stop or a taxi stand. An aircraft does not simply land here and there to take a passenger and go. The airlines company must consider many things and strong support from the government is a must in this industry. They airlines also have bigger ‘margin’ to think.
As a state that rely mostly on tourism sector, easy access is important factor to Melaka. The flight can boost regional tourism market. Of course from a budget airlines. The tourist from Indonesia for example can cut cost the traveling expenses by flying directly to Melaka by a low cost carrier. Not to mention time saving. Even for a small state, Melaka have more that 200 hotels. Everything than bringing in the crowd will be helpful for the product owner.

An opening ceremony for the completion of Batu Berendam Airport will be held on 5th May 2009 Tuesday. The ceremony will be officiated by Y.A.B Datuk Seri Mohd. Ali bin Mohd. Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka.
Time : 9.00 AM
Place : Melaka Main Airport Terminal Batu Berendam.
All are invited to the ceremony.
