6th Anniversary Celebration of the City of Historic Melaka



April is the month for the State of Melaka. Since 6 years ago, people of Melaka will enjoy a Public Holiday every 15th of April to celebrate the Anniversary of the City of Historic Melaka. 2009 mark the 6th year of the Anniversary. Favorite event at the Celebration will be the 12th Archipelago Drums Fiesta International Invitation that been recognize at South East Asia and gaining the International attention.

On 1829, when British ruled Melaka, there was part of district in Melaka called Naning. At that time, Naning have their own constitution followed traditionally hundred years ago without interfere from previous colonial government such as Portuguese and the Dutch. But when British came, they ask Naning to pay for 1/10 tax from all Naning crop yield. Naning Head, Datuk Dol Said refuse to pay the tax and declare a war with British government in Malacca. British attack Naning for the first time in 1831 but they have beed defeated by Datuk Dol Said guerrillas.

What YEllOW means to you?

Yellow… in Malay custom yellow mean Royalty and every Royal Events will have many yellow equipment,yellow carpet yellow dress and anything. Yellow color also means cheerful, other culture like Japan stated yellow as the color of courage. But for me yellow means warded. Yes I’m warded again as my baby turn yellow. A yellow skin baby also called a Jaundice. Early in the morning I notice my baby eye was a bit yellow then ask my mother for his opinion. She said its a yellow fever and I must quickly get to the hospital and see the doctor. The baby blood test turn to be 15 for Jaundice. I don’t know what is the number all about but the doctor said if the Jaundice level is 15 then my baby must undergo phototheraphy treatment. I’m really sad to hear about my baby must go for the phototheraphy but the doc said it will not hurt the baby and I can be there at my baby all the time. Okay then because at first I thought that they will take the baby and put it some place like incubator and must wear some sort like a mask or radioactive wear to enter. The truth is my baby will sit right to me at my bed.

Tourist Friendly Campaign

Last Friday, Tourism Promotion Unit launch a campaign called ‘Mesra Pelancong’ or Tourist Friendly. The ceremony was officiate by YB DATUK SEET HAR CHEOW State Exco of Tourism. The badge above is the official badge for this campaign. The aim for this campaign are to promote the Spirit Think Tourism and Act Tourism to all tourism players. For example in the aspect of cleanliness of the private facilities and courtesy to all. All parties must threat all tourist with smile and willing to help in any aspect as it is a crucial part in maintaining our reputation at the eyes of the world.
