2nd Aniversary of Melaka UNESCO World Heritage City



7th July have past and Melaka still hold the title with no complaint from UNESCO. 2 Years now. Did you go to the ceremony? Yeah suddenly the Heritage area zone at Jonker Walk, Harmony Street until Jalan kota crowded with folk wearing fez, coat, big belt, riding a Raleigh and use paper umbrella.

They were trying to remember the era around 1824 when Munsyi Abdullah was around. Among VIP are State Governor and Chief Minister. Along this month of July there will be activities everyday to commemorate the the Anniversary.

Melaka – to be a garden city…



Night also blooming with flowers – Banda Hilir

There is only one season in Malaysia, so in Melaka, the flowers are blooming throughout the year. It is not to hard to make a garden full of flowers here. Not need waiting for the spring season for the flowers to flourish. It is estimated that Malaysia have more than 15000 of flower species . 15000? I just know 10 from the 15000. If you drive along Malaysian road, among famous species that are planted are hibiscus, Ixora, Bougainvillea, Yellow Alamanda, frangipani and Heliconia. Enter the Ayer Keroh Melaka toll exit, start counting flowers as the City Council aiming to turn Melaka into a garden city. Read about it fron Melaka Hari Ini Below:

The Drums Festival Beat …



Team from the Archipelago..

Archipelago Drum festival already finished in 14th of February. I manage to see the last show. Here we are already accustomed to the Malay Archipelago drums from Indonesia-Brunei-Singapore as the instrument, dance, costume similar to what we have in Malaysia. The Philippines traditional dance also kinda similar to Sabah State of Malaysia tribal dance Kadazan. The Festival had to finished up early because of the heavy rain. I manage to capture Uzbekistan Traditional dance in a short Video. Interesting dance with a man in the middle playing a traditional percussion instrument.

The subject tells you what it is, it’s a sport as it is. A ‘Thon’… you may have heard about mara’thon’ and walka’thon’.This event is in the ‘thon’ group except this one is blooming with flowers. A – 3km walk on sunny day at Taman Botanikal (Melaka Botanical Garden) Ayer Keroh. The dress code is full of floral and fruity themes…and you are eligible to join. Say it like this – ‘imagine streets full of giant bobbing flowers and delicious fruits with arms and legs making their way towards the finishing line and participants will be judged not by speed but their floral costumes!’. Sound great for all Couch potato out there, no need body work out to win and you can still eat plenty of McD yet still has a chance to win this race.
