The roof is from Netherlands

The Dutch colonialism in Melaka was from 1641 and ended in 1825. After that is the British story. But we always talk about Portuguese here because of the remaining Portuguese settlement .

Other than Stadhuys you see at Banda Hilir, the Dutch also pioneered the roofing system using a ceramics tiles.

600 years ago, traditional roof in this archipelago were made from certain leaves. Even all of the buildings are made from timber. From stairs to the roof, all from the jungle. But when the Europeans came, they introduce solid structure like bricks and stone for buildings.

Maa I’m like a model!

Last Saturday my friends want to take some of the scenic Melaka view to be captured on photo. My friends also offered to shoot the photo of my family professionally on various location. My kids love the activities and they are following the photographer on various historical places and shopping mall. It’s good to have your picture been taking with a heavy professional camera by the pros. Look very magazine. Will upload the photo when they finished editing it.

Walking Along Jonker Walk..

A pedestrian walkway situated along Jalan Hang Jebat and continued along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. Jalan Hang Jebat is previously known as Jonker Street. The walkway till today is still called the Jonker Walk. Jonker Walk is situated at the heart of Melaka town. This street is one of the oldest in town dated back when Dutch conquered Melaka. The name Jonker is Dutch word for ‘Jonkheer’. Jonkheer means prince or master. The street established in Dutch era for lower level of people to live such as servant to the Dutch Officer that live at Hereen Street or now Tun Tan Cheng Lock Street. Historian said that Jonker Street has been here as early at 1641.

Melaka as world heritage site recognition is still at its infancy stages. Many things must be done in order to conserve the National History now listed as world heritage site. As Melaka and Penang State just got the world heritage status, there are 851 site in the world that have been recognized by UNESCO. All the site have their own uniqueness in terms of natural resources, cultural variety and others mixed and recognize as world heritage site through convention coordinated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). What do this site have in common? Well there are all Heritage sites and have been visited and acknowledge by world historian, ecologist, art lovers and their own communities.

The Journey to Conserve the history Begins

More than a week the Melaka World Historic City Celebration was already past. The ceremony that took place at Stadhuys complex were attended by more than 15000 people from all around Melaka and foreign tourist. Declaration was made by Melaka Governor The Right Honorary Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob about 9.15pm. The opening ceremony with ‘Overture’ dondang sayang was great and blend with all main races in Malaysia participating colorfully.

Cruising with the beauties..

The beauties are coming back! but this time for a cause. 16 girls from all over Malaysia come to Melaka and make it their temporary home until Miss Malaysia Earth 2008 Final at Everly Hotel this coming Saturday (12 July). They will be here for a week attending program for sponsors, city tour, making points and polishing their skills for the final. There will be a preview for the Miss Malaysia Earth 2008 both in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur. Catch all this girls Preview in KL at Sungei Wang and Aloha KL on Monday (7 July). First city tour for them was cruising the Melaka River and Mr. Bernard the tour guide sure make their first day in the open air full of information!.
