Month of ‘Open Houses’



Melaka State Hari Raya Open house recently…

The culture of visiting each other during religious celebration is common in Malaysia. Starting from a family houses to nearest neighbor around the house, friends outside the area to the bigger state or national open houses.

During Eidul Fitri, especially during first 3 day of it, generally every Malay / Muslim houses are open to visitors. At least a variety of biscuit will be served at the table.

Shopping Spree week

Starting this week to end of this month will be full of shopping activities by Malaysian that celebrate Hari Raya or Eidul Fitri. For any celebration, to live up the celebration spirit physically is through buying new things for the special day.

That was what we experience since we were kid. Wearing new clothes, new shoes, new home furniture, new decor or paint.

Now we are continuing the spirit at our children by buying them a nice new clothes for hari raya.

I am late but the raya moon is still up there. I heard some department still organizing makan-makan for the raya open house. Had some work to do after Raya and now will update the blog as usual. So, Selamat Hari Raya! Mohon maaf zahir batin till next year!.

Hari Raya Enchantment



How far will you go for festive shopping? As far as Paris? Kuala Lumpur is far enough for me because I live in Melaka. Here at our place we have it all, so why do we need to go far for a shoes and handbag?

Maybe as a human, there is no such thing is enough. Like this is enough, or just enough. As long as we can spend than world is not enough.

Well, KL is Malaysia shopping hub, so it’s rational why this month there will be slight increase in KL’s traffic like in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The Spirit of Giving During Ramadhan

Buka Puasa @ Rennaisance Hotel Melaka

Melaka, September 2009 – Some 80 orphans and poor children of the Madrasah Annuriah Addiniah, Sungai Udang were treated to a sumptuous kampung-style dinner to break their fast hosted by Renaissance Melaka Hotel, at its grand ballroom recently.

This yearly event has been the hotel’s tradition for many years. The Management and Renaissance Caring Club (RCC) took the opportunity to share the moment with the less fortunate.

Festive Activities



Today all Malaysian celebrate Hari Raya Aidil Fitri or Eid ul Fitr. Although this celebration is for Muslim after one Month Fasting in Ramadhan, in the spirit of 1 Malaysia, others celebrate it with their Muslim friends by visiting open houses enjoying the festive food that they have very familiar with since childhood. Ketupat, Rendang, Lemang, Dodol, Sambal Pecel and various type of cookies can be considered the all Malaysian food. 2-3 Days before the Eid ul Fitr, Malaysia will be the land of Bazaar. This will be the month where most of the shoppers will go to the street. Month were the Big Shopping Complex can’t get as much as sales they hope for because every corner of the street the will be people selling. I can say that the atmosphere before 1st Eid ul Fitr were more thrill and at the climax period. Although the seller are targeting the celebrator, everybody, tourist also find it very hot experience. Hot in terms of the weather, the spotted traffic jammed, the bargaining, hot food fried in front of the street and the sea of people.
