Another Luck Well if You Spotted the White Croc!

Wells are among the famous human creation for fairy tales. Around the world there are many stories about wishing well. The ancient Germanic and Celtic considered wells and springs sacred places. They throw the armory of their defeated enemy in to the well after battles as an offering to their god. Normal practice for dealing with an ancient or luck well are throwing coins deep into it and widely accepted around the world. You can see Chinese or European throwing coins into a well for luck.

Melaka International Tourism Show (MITS ) 2008



Melaka International Tourism Show 2008 (MITS) will be held again this coming December. The venue as usual is at Melaka International Trade Center, Ayer Keroh, Melaka. The date will be from 5 to 7 December 2008. As usual there will be many tourism players booth from travel agents, hoteliers, tourism organizations and tourism companies. Other activity will be cultural performances, appearance from local artist, demonstrations, games for family and prize give away. I will updates the latest tentative from time to time.

Briged Seni Melaka

Briged Seni Melaka or in English we can pronounce it Melaka Art Brigade is an official cultural dance & music performing group for the State Government of Melaka. Established in 1989 with a mission to to promote Melaka Cultural art and dance as one of the tourism products and introduce it throughout the country. Performance by Briged Seni Melaka are including many dance type that is choreograph for all aspect of Malaysian multi – racial community especially in Melaka that have Chinese, Indian, Baba – Nyonya, Chitty and Portuguese. This aspect also blend with modern and contemporary dance to suit all occasion but not compromising the fineness of the movement and the dance gait. Now the group are going global with experience in performing dance in country like Germany, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Indonesia, Russia and many more. The group also have their own multi skills combo that can play all sort of music like traditional Malay (unplugged), Gamelan and also pop-rock. Briged Seni Melaka has won many titles in the country such as National Champion of Traditional Music (Johan Muzik Asli Kebangsaan), National Champion of Live Band Group (Johan Pertandingan KUGIRAN Peringkat Kebangsaan), Champion of Malay Dance Festival Palembang Indonesia and National dance Festival 2007 by Ministry of Culture & Arts.

Baba Nyonya also have dance style too..

The Peranakan also have their own culture and customs including dance. Enjoy dondang sayang by Briged Seni Group Tourism Promotion Unit featuring baba nyonya dance. As you can see the dancers wearing sarung kebaya panjang unique to the Peranakan womens. The outfits also worn with decorative brooches with beaded shoes, a mixed malay and chinese motifs.The slow move reflect the Chinese Emperor lady-in-waiting, servant for the princess / queen. These movements are inherited from Hang Li Poh lady-in-waiting, a Princess from Ming Dynasty. Hang Li Poh was famous name in the history of Melaka who married with Sultan Mansur Shah in 1459 to strengthen the diplomatic ties between two countries. The dance won 1st place in the Dance Festival 2007.

Colors of Malaysia Dondang Sayang!

Enjoy Melaka Dondang Sayang in Malay original version, chinese and tamil version! Perform during Melaka River Fiesta Opening Ceremony. Dondang Sayang is Melaka traditional folk song only unique to the State of Melaka. Dondang Sayang is a form of rhythmic quatrain and usually sang by 2 person. This chinese and tamil version are very rare and shows how the multi colors of Malaysia live harmonically.
