Melaka is among 45 places to go in 2012

45 places to go in 2012 not on Malaysian soil but on New York Times perspectives. Read the article on nytimes about The 45 Places to Go in 2012. On top of the list are Panama Canal, Helsinki in Finland, the Authentic Myanmar, London (of course the Olympics!).

Meanwhile Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen was proud of that Melaka listing. But she also targeted that tourist arrival in Malaysia will drop this 2012 due to the the unstable global economic situation, especially in Europe.Read here. Anyway the promotion must go on….

Far away bird at Ayer Keroh

I found this old article about Ayer Keroh forest reserve that attracted many species of local bird and migratory bird. The bird watchers from Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) have recorded birds at Ayer Keroh with a total of 126 types. Some of it come from as far as northern China. Aileen Gabriella Robinson from Malaysia is the winner for Miss Tourism International 2011. This Miss Tourism International 2011 defeated 53 competitors from other continent. Aileen a 22-year-old dance instructor is the he first Malaysian to win in the pageant’s 15-year history.

Malaysia for International Film Location

It will be a proud and exciting moment when Hollywood choose Malaysia as film location. Most of us will remember the Entrapment starring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones. Film like this is the best because many of the scenes featuring Malaysia recognizable landmark like The Petronas Twin Towers and Malaysia LRT.

Other that Entrapment, I think International movies that we can remember is Anna & The King, shot somewhere in Perak. Jackie Chan film Police Story 3: Super Cop, few others Hong Kong movies, Bollywood like Yaadein and Don 2.

24 mil tourist for 2011

Tourism minister expected that tourist will continued to flow steadily to Malaysia although few parts of the world having uncertain scenario like recent Japan earthquake, political unrest in middle east, Europe economic problem and recent Bangkok big flood.

“Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the ministry was multiplying efforts to ensure the number of tourists to the country remained stable in the coming years.The efforts included focusing on potential countries to lure tourists and
discussions with foreign airlines to have direct flights into the country, in addition to the MAS service.”

Malaysia commitment on tourism got recognition

United Nation (UN), under United Nations World Travel Organisation (UNWTO) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) acknowledge Malaysia through open letter to Prime Minister.

The recognition is because of the Malaysian head of government effort on promoting travel and tourism industries in the country.
