The Dutch colonialism in Melaka was from 1641 and ended in 1825. After that is the British story. But we always talk about Portuguese here because of the remaining Portuguese settlement .

Other than Stadhuys you see at Banda Hilir, the Dutch also pioneered the roofing system using a ceramics tiles.

600 years ago, traditional roof in this archipelago were made from certain leaves. Even all of the buildings are made from timber. From stairs to the roof, all from the jungle. But when the Europeans came, they introduce solid structure like bricks and stone for buildings.

Newborn!


1 day after birth…

Mamas got a brand new baby!!. 3.56kg and healthy. To date no name chosen yet and it’s a girl.

So I’m off duty now…please don’t call me..call Mr. Boss at the office hahaha. I choose 3 month maternity leave. So for after birth mother out there, what’s up? Well, as far as the baby grandmother concern, the first 2 month will be a strict diet regime with recovery process full with traditional herbs.

Of course …modern mom now they got a lot of readings from the Internet to defy the mother principle, but how about we call it a draw. Both are good. Beside we wont be here right now because of them and their traditional method.

Confident about world longest sea bridge..

Yesterday Melaka Chief Minister said that Melaka State Government are confident about the proposed bridge. If becoming reality , the bridge will connect Melaka and Indonesia via Dumai. The traffic from Indonesia will be from the 70million population Sumatra. Melaka – Dumai Bridge spanning the Straits of Melaka for about 35km.

Islamic and Chinese artifacts at Bastion house

PERZIM / Melaka Museum Corporation is having Islamic & Chinese Exhibition until 15 June 2011. Although just a small scale exhibition, the exhibits are a very rare items dated from Shang Dynasty (1700bc). It’s a real artifacts, not a replica.

This are some of the collection:

Please visit the exhibition at Bastion House, Jalan Kota Melaka. Just next to the A Famosa Fortress. Time from 9.00am to 6.00pm. There will be entrance fee at RM12 for adult.
