Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum

jalan tun tan cheng lock
Located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, or better known as the Millionaire’s Row, the Baba-Nyonya Heritage Museum is actually a row of residential houses built by the Dutch which were later bought over by the wealthy Peranakans (the descendants of Chinese immigrants who married with local Malays after arriving in Melaka).
The architectural style of these houses clearly reflects the East-West influence. Built in 1896, the museum offers an insight into the lifestyles of the Baba-Nyonyas in Melaka, especially at the turn of the century.

Witness the rich heritage in terms of traditional costumes, antique furnitures and elaborate carvings. Western influence can clearly be seen in the number of antique furnitures with Italian, British and Dutch influences. The western influence does not end here as there are many things in the museum…from the Victorian era lamp to floor tiles…have a story of their own to be told.
The Baba-Nyonya Heritage Museum is located at No 48 and 50 at the row of houses. Guided tours are provided during the visit and no photography is allowed.

Auyin Hill Resort

Auyin Hill Resort

Located in Durian Tunggal, Melaka, this resort was carefully constructed, sculptured and landscaped according to the philosophy of “Feng Shui” (Geomancy) with much sacrifice and labour of love. Nothing is left to chance and is the only one of a kind in this country. A fascinating resort based on Chinese mythologies and legends with spectacular gardens, pools, bridges, gateways and pavilions. Every element has been placed in accordance to the principle of celestial and terrestrial positioning with accuracy to enhance its charm, “chi” (power) and prosperity. For those, who is believe this philosophy, this is the place that you can learn more and truly experience about this “Feng Shui”. Portuguese In Melaka?

Porta De Santiago

What do you know about Melaka? When we talk about Melaka, what is in your mind? Of course the history and heritage. Melaka known as the historical city and I proud to be the Melaka people, also my loving country Malaysia. The famous landmark in Melaka is the remnants of the A Famosa fortress, which is known as the Porta de Santiago. The construction of the A Famosa fort was said to be the brainchild of Alfonso de Albuquerque as a bid to consolidate and strengthen Portuguese position in Melaka after they put an end to the Melaka Malay Sultanate’s rule. Realising Melaka’s strategic location, a fortress was erected around the St. Paul’s Hill. Hundreds of slaves and inmates were forced to work on building this concrete structure. It had a strong foundation and thick walls, and used boulders taken from the ruins of palaces, mosques and tombstones. Equipped with cannons, the fort with its four gates was once an object of fear and respect among the people of this city.
