Kampong Jawa – we use to shop here…



Some of the early Malay Shoplot…

Before we had Jusco, Mahkota Parade, Tesco and Carrefour in Malacca, when I was small, Kampong Jawa is the famous spot for shopping at reasonable price. We can get almost everything here from clothing,shoes,specialty food,groceries,get a hair cut and furniture. Although the name is ‘Kampung Jawa’ or Java Village in English, there is no real kampung here only old shop houses and no Java ethnic really live here. The population is 90% Chinese and mainly traders.

Poco-Poco Police and Horsemen to Protect the Malacca Tourist



The cha-cha Malacca police women..

Malacca has its own tourist special police force, men and women. The police – men are great at riding a horse and the police women can dance – cha-cha. They will greet you with smile at all famous Melaka tourist spot especially at Banda Hilir. Their presence everywhere in the street making tourist feel safe and making the snatch thief thinking twice.

Weekend at Banda Hilir and Matta Fair 08



Searching for a spot…

Weekend at Banda Hilir as usual, crowded. With new building coming soon such as hotel and commercial lots, you can imagine the jammed pack traffic when all are in place. But State government already have a plan to divert the traffic jammed near future with proposed new public transport like aero rail. I am a bit late that Sunday to the MATTA fair Melaka chapter organized at Dataran Pahlawan Megamall concourse area, so zero parking available. The nearest parking space available is at the Equatorial hotel basement parking. With no 2nd thought we straight away to the Equatorial.

Croc File…



I can say that this park has the largest collection of crocodile in this country. They have all local crocodile species with additional friends from America, Mexico, India and Thailand. All about 100 species of the croc. This predators are captured and breed in condition that match their natural habitat. Visitors can see Crocodile show by the croc caretaker every Saturday. This croc show seems to be like a near death experience to the caretaker sure will make buttocks uneasy at the seat.

eyeonmalaysia @ Malacca is Now Open!



Malaysia’s stunning showcase & Melaka exciting entertainment venue is now open to the public. Although not the world tallest, the eyeonmalaysia is tall enough for viewers to capture the 20km breathtaking view of the Historical City and straits of Melaka horizon in 3 rounds ride for approx. 12 minutes. It has 42 gondolas, 1 vip gondola equip with plasma tv, dvd player,a mini fridge and you can take a seat with plush leather seats. The whole ferris wheel is weighting 400 tonnes and using the latest German & Swiss technology.

Melaka: Going to be the best cultural heritage sites in the world!!!



Hi all….as we know, last 7th of July 2008, Melaka was finally got the UNESCO heritage list as a world heritage city, together with the Georgetown, Penang. As the Melakan people, I can’t stop to be so proud and hopefully Melaka will become the most amazing tourist destination in the world. These two states have become the Malaysia’s first cultural heritage sites. The Melaka government with their full commitment has do a lot to achieve this and the effort are still going strong.

Walking Along Jonker Walk..

A pedestrian walkway situated along Jalan Hang Jebat and continued along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. Jalan Hang Jebat is previously known as Jonker Street. The walkway till today is still called the Jonker Walk. Jonker Walk is situated at the heart of Melaka town. This street is one of the oldest in town dated back when Dutch conquered Melaka. The name Jonker is Dutch word for ‘Jonkheer’. Jonkheer means prince or master. The street established in Dutch era for lower level of people to live such as servant to the Dutch Officer that live at Hereen Street or now Tun Tan Cheng Lock Street. Historian said that Jonker Street has been here as early at 1641.
