After Kuala Lumpur, to date now Melaka will start to have an active monorail system. As the aim to reduce traffic congestion at Bandar Hilir Area, actually it focus more on enhancing tourist activities along the Melaka River that past through Heritage Area.

You can see it clearly at its based station in Taman Rempah / the River Cruise first ticketing counter – grey colored.

Spanning 1.6km, the 24-passenger monorail runs from Taman Rempah in Pengkalan Rama to Kampung Bunga Raya Pantai in the heart of the city.

In the midst of completion, the project delayed few month because of some land acquisition issues. So you can read the news here.

No matter where you are in Malaysia, look at south east and if the sky are clear you can see the moon eaten by the dark side….partially. Remind me of the New Movie Twilight Saga: Eclipse. National Space Agency (ANGKASA) said that we can view the moon activity from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Even if we can see it through our naked eye, the outer space will be more clear if we can use a telescope. So National Space Agency (ANGKASA) will be organizing a Partial Lunar Eclipse Observation Program at the National Planetarium. Public are all invited.

The first 300 visitors attending the program at National Planetarium will be given a tin of Eclipse Mints. You wont turn into a wolf after consuming the mints but just getting fresh breath.

Melaka State Space Observatory Complex at Al-Khawarizmi Tanjung Bidara also will be doing the same thing.

It’s a massive used of wood here in Hotel construction. But the wood is not from around here or from this region. It’s Russian log wood. From what I can see this kind of tree looks like having similar diameter in size…interesting.

Philea Resort & Spa is located before or behind the Melaka Butterfly Park in Ayer Keroh. Headed to the Butterfly park and you will find the Philea Resort first

Expected to be open in 12 June 2010. They plan to make an official launch On 7th of June. The price tag is very pricey. The priciest among all the hotel in Melaka I think. Lowest price is about RM700++ for standard room (pavillion type) and Highest price is RM2000++ suite type.

Just wait for the launch to get the accurate figure.

Mahkota Parade Charity Fashion Fun Walk which will be held on 1st May 2010. Woww….ladies! This is the time for us having the new trendy fashion, at the same time do a charity for helping the needy. Take the opportunity ok!!

Actually, Mahkota Parade is undergoing a major refurbishment which started from July 2009 and will end by April 2010. To mark the completion of the refurbishment, the Centre is re-launching with a fashion charity fun walk for Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina. This one of its kind event combines fashion and charity, where participants can make a statement with their fashion sense to raise awareness and bring hope to needy kidney patients.

Fashion and fun are the main theme of the walk, therefore, participants MUST be dressed fashionably for the walk. Ladies must come in full costume jewellery and trendy wear; heels are optional while men must wear colourful and fashionable clothing. Kids must come in colourful and trendy clothing. Traditional attire is also welcomed. This event is open to the public.

About Yayasan Toh Puan Zurina
YTPZ was established in November 2009 as a haemodialysis centre in Melaka that offers dialysis for kidney patients with low income. This dialysis centre is named after the Melaka Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob’s consort, Toh Puan Zurina Kassim.

Cruising Along Melaka River through the historic city…

Melaka River Cruise now easily turn to be the top tourist destination if visiting Melaka. With the total number of about 60,000 tourist using the river cruise every month, the Melaka State Government have new plan for it. The plan is to extend the boat route until the Melaka Sentral – among the biggest and comfortable bus terminal in Malaysia. So what the catch? There is a river beside Melaka Sentral, if the River Cruise Route is extended until the Melaka Sentral, tourist that are using the bus or taxi can directly get a water taxi and rides through the Melaka river to go to other part of the town like Banda Hilir.

Usually Old Town are build near to a river and from there the town grow bigger like we have now.The example is like Malaysia capital Kuala Lumpur that have rivers flow along the city. It’s good to utilize the rivers to be a tourist spot because we will strive to make it a better river – Clean and safe.

River that cut through the town got many stories to tell…

Minister backs extension of Malacca river cruise

MALACCA: Efforts by authorities to tap Malacca River’s potential as a tourism product by extending its river-cruise route has received the support of Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.

Dr Ng took the cruise to see for herself the results of the state’s decade-long RM320mil effort to rehabilitate and beautify the waterway.Besides the many features and landmarks along the 4.5km cruise, she said the river’s unique ecosystem and fauna were attractions particularly to foreign tourists.

“It may be common for locals to see monitor lizards swimming in the river’s mangrove swamps or birds on the nipah trees.
“To foreign tourists, such sights are captivating as they are not found in their countries,” she told reporters here after the cruise from Taman Rempah recently.

Melaka River Cruise is managed by Perbadanan Pantai dan Sungai which has 40 ferries plying the river from Jalan Quayside to Taman Rempah in Pengkalan Rama.Each month, 60,000 tourists use the cruise to sightsee.
The state recently proposed an extension of the cruise to Melaka Sentral, the state’s main bus and taxi terminal.Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the extension would allow the state to develop a water taxi service to ferry passengers from Melaka Sentral to the historic city’s centre.
