The early Bulldoze in Melaka

This small machinery is a bulldozer that was used before 2nd world war to open up estates for rubber plantation in the interior of this states. Where other domestic farming still used a real bull that day.

Smaller bulldozers such as this was used to make pathways in the secondary jungle so that the workers could move about to cut down the trees and its clearance.

Chain Links track controlled its movement and 50% of petrol and 50% of kerosene generated power of its movement. See, if the old technology can adopt 50-50 fueling, why not at the present? We can put 50% petrol and 50% of other liquid for cost saving huh?

Contemporary Arts Trail until November

I can sketch a picture and do some coloring, but for contemporary arts I still don’t really understand how to enjoy it and sometimes the price tag also – more than you think.

But for those who really enjoy contemporary arts, they can spend money on it and make it among high yield industry. So Tourism Malaysia think through arts, it will be possible to promote more high-yield tourists to come to Malaysia. The event is 1 Malaysia Contemporary Arts Tourism Festival.

Starting Jun Until September, art galleries from Kuala Lumpur like National Art Galleries and Starhill Gallery Participating. Melaka also included in the Festival at Folk Art Gallery (Galeri Seni Rakyat) Banda Hilir.

It’s hot now and apply your sun protection correctly

The usual choice of protection…

We are going to the beach at Port Dickson this weekend. Shanghai is hot, but here the weather you can’t predict. Once very hot but suddenly the rain pours. But I guess 70% the sun will shine this week.

I’m browsing about sun block products and found this tips,

I was wrong, usually when arrived at the place where the Sun shine brightly, I will put the sun protection cream. Dermatologist said that we must apply it 20 minutes before arriving at the scene. The longer period you spend outside, you must put the cream everywhere at your body even if you are wearing bathing suits or clothes.

No matter where you are in Malaysia, look at south east and if the sky are clear you can see the moon eaten by the dark side….partially. Remind me of the New Movie Twilight Saga: Eclipse. National Space Agency (ANGKASA) said that we can view the moon activity from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Even if we can see it through our naked eye, the outer space will be more clear if we can use a telescope. So National Space Agency (ANGKASA) will be organizing a Partial Lunar Eclipse Observation Program at the National Planetarium. Public are all invited.

The first 300 visitors attending the program at National Planetarium will be given a tin of Eclipse Mints. You wont turn into a wolf after consuming the mints but just getting fresh breath.

Melaka State Space Observatory Complex at Al-Khawarizmi Tanjung Bidara also will be doing the same thing.

Doing business in tourism industry means direct to the consumer activities. It’s all about consumer experience and feelings. So in tourism business, a good personalities with lot of smiles does help.

Tourism business is a big industry and the chain will affect from an individual, retail, wholesale, large companies to the nation itself. When the the country are politically stable, strong solidarity and bless with good mother nature, naturally tourist will start to flock in. Domestically and Internationally. Malaysia is one of the lucky country and we can start a tourism business even right now.

Tourist will usually spend on:

Flight tickets, public transportation ticket, accommodation, meals, shopping, entertainment, rental, and other services.

Let say you live on Melaka, state that heavily rely on Tourism, you can start doing business related to tourism at home.

1)Home Biz :

Being an Internet Agent.
-Setup a blog. Register for an affiliate program that give you free access to their booking system like Agoda. List all the hotel and accommodation in Melaka that available in Agoda. Write extensively about every hotel in agoda at your blog. Few pic and recommendation. Put the agoda booking system or link. Agoda can give you Highest commission up to 60%.

Being a Local Expert.
-If you have live long enough at your village and know every aspect of the area, you can team up with local guesthouse or homestay owner to do a trekking or visit to a specific area in the village that must use your expert. -Life at the road side where tourist always passing thru? You can start a bicycle renting. At the beach you can provide floating equipment or binocular…boat ride, etc.

Service Expert.
-Let say you have a certain skill of healing inherit from your ancestor, you can advertise it and tourist come by making an appointment. Or you can joint with other tourism product operator and attached with them.

2) By Making use of the Data.
-Tourist arrival, receipts, country data are also useful to start a very specific business. Let say we see many Indian tourist come and the number increasing steadily. Maybe we can promote more on modern vegetarian food restaurant for example.

3) Starting A real Business that must have a licenses.
-You can always browse the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia website for License Guidelines. The license guidelines and from Tourism Ministry website are:

1) Setting up Travel Agency
2) Registered Tourist Guide
3) Excursion Buses and Hire drive car
4) Tourism Training Institute
5) Tourism Accredited Shop

Tourism Accredited shop is new features from Tourism Malaysia. You should read the guideline and if you have a shop you can get accredited as a Tourism Shop. Can be a good appearance for promotion.

Student Discovery Malaysia programme

If you can’t bribe the parents, bribe their child….I don’t remember where I heard this quote but in business, sometimes we need to target on childhood thingy so we can get the money from their guardian. That’s why you are willing to go through another long way in a supermarket just not to past the toy section. Anything can happen when you past the toy section with the kiddy.

Now Tourism Malaysia is using this to tap into Parents in China. You know China is among Malaysia key Market for tourist arrival. The focus is not to small but 10 to 15-year-olds to visit Malaysia with their parents.

First batch will be a group of 128 to visit the Kota Tinggi Resort at end of this month under this Student Discovery Malaysia programme.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen also said that this will be a great opportunity to resort and tour operators. How ? By participating in this Student Discovery Malaysia programme , link with Tourism Ministry, making good package then let the tourist arrival rise!

GUANGZHOU, June 11 (Bernama) — Malaysia is stepping up its tourism promotion in China, a key market, and will launch a Student Discovery Malaysia programme in Shenzhen at the end of the month to attract youngsters.

The programme is targeted at 10 to 15-year-olds to visit Malaysia with their parents, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, who is on a four-day working visit here.

“Through the programme, we are introducing educational tours such as discovering the flora and fauna in Malaysia through jungle trekking,” she told Bernama on Friday.
