Guess you all already know that our Sipadan Island did not make it to the final.

The 28 finalists are: The Amazon, Angel Falls, Bay of Fundy, Black Forest, Bu Tinah Shoals, Cliffs of Moher, Dead Sea, El Yunque, Galapagos, Grand Canyon, Breat Barrier Reef, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeita Grotto, Jeju Island, Kilimanjaro, Komodo Park, the Maldives, Masurian Lake District, Matterhorn/Cervino, Milford Sound, Mud Volcanoes, Puerto Princesa Underground River, Sundarbans, Table Mountain, Uluru, Vesuvius and Yushan.

You scratch my back I scratch yours…

So an organization called BIMP-EAGA (The Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area) agreed to support Puerto Princesa Underground River Philipines and Komodo National Park Indonesia as their favorite to to be among the world’s new Seven Wonders of Nature.

The support is also a gesture of strong partnership within the BIMP-EAGA region in strengthening cooperation for the development of tourism.

Student Discovery Malaysia programme

If you can’t bribe the parents, bribe their child….I don’t remember where I heard this quote but in business, sometimes we need to target on childhood thingy so we can get the money from their guardian. That’s why you are willing to go through another long way in a supermarket just not to past the toy section. Anything can happen when you past the toy section with the kiddy.

Now Tourism Malaysia is using this to tap into Parents in China. You know China is among Malaysia key Market for tourist arrival. The focus is not to small but 10 to 15-year-olds to visit Malaysia with their parents.

First batch will be a group of 128 to visit the Kota Tinggi Resort at end of this month under this Student Discovery Malaysia programme.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen also said that this will be a great opportunity to resort and tour operators. How ? By participating in this Student Discovery Malaysia programme , link with Tourism Ministry, making good package then let the tourist arrival rise!

GUANGZHOU, June 11 (Bernama) — Malaysia is stepping up its tourism promotion in China, a key market, and will launch a Student Discovery Malaysia programme in Shenzhen at the end of the month to attract youngsters.

The programme is targeted at 10 to 15-year-olds to visit Malaysia with their parents, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, who is on a four-day working visit here.

“Through the programme, we are introducing educational tours such as discovering the flora and fauna in Malaysia through jungle trekking,” she told Bernama on Friday.

Melaka Zoo have provide many fun activities for visitors along this week as the Malaysia School Holidays already started until 21st June.

Among the activities your kids can participate are coloring contest for kindergarten, Kuiz for Primary and Secondary Students, gift for lucky visitor and more animal show.

The entrance fee to Zoo Melaka is really cheap, only RM8.00 for adult and RM4 for children. Surely will not burden your pocket for the whole family trip.

Melaka Zoo is the most recognized Zoo in Malaysia because of its many species. Usually wild animal that have been captured or injured in the wild are sent to the Melaka Zoo.

The cost of feeding animal at the zoo are very high, Melaka Zoo is welcoming any private or corporate that want to sponsored the animal there.

Other activities you can consider are watching animal in the Night Zoo (Weekends Nights) or Enjoy a spot of night fishing.

Don’t forget to lunch at their floating restaurant, D’Pelican.Parts of the restaurant over looks the Elephant Village where Elephant Presentations are conducted daily (except Fridays).

Your may experience the unexpected at the friendly neighborhood like free lunch at a Malay wedding ceremony or eat fresh local fruit from the tree. No wild animal on the forest, but you can see monkeys, fox, squirrel, anteater, tortoise or maybe you must apply little cautions on wild boar.

Apart from the world leader, the Sultans and the Manchester United players, if Brad Pitt wants to sleep for one night at one of our local homestay, it will create a chaos with reporter and bloggers everywhere. The kind of tourist with bodyguard and traffic riders.

Celebrity like this will make a boost to the visibility of the places. A free highlights from news and blog around the world. These days everyone can produce a products but at the end a good marketing that counts.

Remember Miss Tourism was here few years ago? Hope the contestant are successful in their carrier and continue to promote Malaysia as a tourism destination. There is another Miss Tourism Pageant in Malaysia that is The Miss Tourism Intercontinental, based at Sarawak to boost Sawarak as tourist destination. By having an International Miss Tourism Pageant, it will involve media and sponsor that will highlight the host state to the masses.

Model from Macau wins subsidiary title at Miss Tourism Intercontinental pageant

MIRI: Model Fan Ting Ting representing Macau in Miss Tourism Intercontinental won the subsidiary title ‘Miss Goodwill/ Miss Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club’ on Sunday night.

CONGRATULATIONS: Law (second right) puts on the sash on Fan who won the ‘Miss Goodwill/Miss Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club’ title witnessed by Lai (right) and Soh (left).

She captivated the judges not only with her catwalk and beauty but also her graceful and entertaining rendition of a Chinese traditional dance in the talent show to grant her the title in the Miss Tourism Intercontinental 2010 Charity Preview Show cum Gala Dinner.

Want to really enjoy the surroundings at the place we travel?, cycling is the best way. Put your feet at the pedal and cycle anywhere you want to go. Only your skin and the nature. I’m not a bicycle fan so I don’t know about the best bicycle brand available but there are plenty of bicycle shop here in Malaysia.

This is because village around Merlimau area provide near complete package of life in the Melaka village. It has 100 years old house that have been gazetted as a Heritage Area, paddy field, local sea fisherman / fishery area, local food industry that still use back of the house for operation and a glimpse of Melaka Sultanate History. Japanese students learn Malay and culture during homestay programme

MALACCA: It was a chance of a lifetime for some 30 students from Japan’s Hippo Family Club to learn first-hand the Malay language and culture through a homestay programme at a Malay village in Merlimau recently.

The students, comprising boys and girls between 10 and 16 years old, were selected from all over Japan to visit Malaysia with 120-year-old SK Sebatu playing host during their week-long stay.

Teacher Nishizawa Michiko, 54, said the club was set up to encourage young Japanese to learn foreign languages in a more natural environment rather than through classroom lessons.

“Homestay programmes are an effective way for students to learn a new language because it allows them to practise the foreign language while staying with their host families,” she said when met at the ceremony to introduce the children to their foster families here recently.

She added that club members would pick up more than one foreign language on such field trips.

Trip to Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park

An open concept zoo…

Last Thursday I was following the official Melaka Zoo trip to Singapore. The objectives are to learn how the Zoo in Singapore operate as a successful business entity. We all depart for Singapore by a Bus. Arrived at Jurong Bird Park first and then proceed to the zoo. Have some refreshment at the Bongo Burger.

The Singapore is professionally manage and focus to make the area as near to the Rain Forest experience. Although the animals there are not many in term of population like the Melaka Zoo,Singapore Zoo has wide variety of Species. How they present the animal for visitors are also in different perspectives, Singapore Zoo is an open concept zoo.

For me it is the best Zoo, both for the recreational and educational. The open concept making unrestricted viewing to the wild life so captivating. Most of the Animal are active and without cage making the trip to visit the wild life are worthy because of clear view and the animal not happen to be hiding.

Singapore Zoo also house very endangered species like the Beautiful blue eyed White Tiger, Polar Bears, Pygmy Hippos and dugong. Singapore Zoo is not always about the animals, it’s about the activities and education. Kids will love this place as the zoo got special hands on learning with it’s behind the scene tours. A water playground inside the zoo surrounded with curious creatures will make them want to come again…

Overall it was a very informative trip and I will definitely want to come again personally.
