Maa I’m like a model!

Last Saturday my friends want to take some of the scenic Melaka view to be captured on photo. My friends also offered to shoot the photo of my family professionally on various location. My kids love the activities and they are following the photographer on various historical places and shopping mall. It’s good to have your picture been taking with a heavy professional camera by the pros. Look very magazine. Will upload the photo when they finished editing it.

Melaka can be a good choice for photographer . You can take photograph along Melaka river that have mixed activities both modern and traditional from long time ago. Stroll along the river bank to see old ruins and old but renewed shop lots. Enjoy taking photograph of the decorative details of the buildings, windows or roof around Jonker Street. The Dutch inscription at Satdhuys Wall or just have a fun shooting around Dataran Pahlawan.

As far as I know, the shop owner here can still accept people with big camera and telescopic lenses. In some public commercial places like in KL, the guard will chase you out!.

Remember the old days when our parents will bring us at the beach to play with water. At that time nearest beach was the favorite spot for all water activity. Every weekend beach will always crowded with people from all ages. Maybe at that time swimming pools were for the pro. Now the trend is shift. More and more small scale theme park are build for the public and focuses for the children. Parents are more likely to go this theme park to bring their child as it is more safer than the beaches. And for that ,Melaka Crocodile farm tap into this new market – The water playground.

This new attraction at Taman Buaya (crocodile farm), the water park is open for all but more suitable for the children. This water park is spread over a vicinity of 6000 sq. feet. It places one round of adult slide, water jet tunnerl,water curtain, shower umbrella and water fall. The depth of the water park reaches between 1.5′ to 2.5′ deep.

Your kid boring because you always bring them to ride machine horses at the amusement park? Time to bring them to a real horse. They will appreciate it. I don’t know if horses are native in Malaysia but it’s not like the west where we can see horses run freely in an open land like goat everywhere here. Melaka zoo also have horse but horses there are to big like the sport horses. One more option is at Pantai Klebang Melaka. Horses at Pantai Klebang are much smaller and suitable for children. Pantai Klebang is just few minutes from town . Not very suitable for swimming spot because of it muddy beaches but people usually go here for healthy activities such as jogging, family walking and playing with their children at the pubic playground.

The horses are situated at the Pantai Klebang or Klebang Beach kids playground. Available every weekend. They got 4 to 5 small horses and RM10 per ride along the beaches. The ride will be accompanied by the horse keeper. But I think parents can’t joint the ride as I can see the horses a small and thin. Your kid can enjoy all the facilities at the public playground there.

Baby Rayn…

After 6 month old and above, babies / children will start to make funny things and look funny also. This is the best period to invest more quality time with them especially the for working parents. It will be a lost if we miss this time when they are in a process to grown up. Usually working parents will have to put their babies at the care center, paid a maid or leave them with their grandma. So time we had with them are precious and stop bringing home the office..Here are some tips for playing with babies that I dig from the net.

Playing Tips for Babies:

* The Hand Game involves putting a small toy in one hand, putting both hands behind one’s back and asking the baby to point to the hand that has the toy.
* Roll the ball involves rolling the ball to a child that is sitting opposite from you on the floor and having the child roll it back to you.
* Where’s the babyis a game where you can’t find the baby. One pretends to look everywhere for the baby while calling her name. By turning around and suddenly pointing and saying the baby’s name, the child will want you to play this one, over and over again.
* Find the animal, involves placing stuffed animals throughout the house and walking with the baby to try to find the different animals hidden.
* Dancing with the baby, involves putting music on and pretending to dance with the baby, twirling them around occasionally.
* Singing to the baby, involves songs that children love. By singing it to them you will get their attention.

Baby Rayn like to seat at the lap…

When traveling for a short trip with car, you can’t resist to bring the baby along because of the fun part playing with the babies while your partner is driving. Usually people will use the baby buckle seat only when driving alone. With the husband or partner driving, putting babies on the lap will be the option. Now Malaysian government have already imposing the back seat belt regulation with a $300 summons, they are now eying new strict regulation for baby safety in car.

In some country, there are already a law that requires all children under age six or weighing less than sixty pounds to be placed in a federally approved child restraint system when riding in the car. If you still hold your baby in the lap while riding in a car even for a short ride, the police will issue a tickets. At California, children must ride in the back seat until they are at least 6 years old or weigh about 27kg.

Did you know that a sudden stop even at 30miles per hour can have the same crushing force on the child’s brain and body as a fall from 3 story building. Infant is more sensitive even a vibration impact from an accidents can harm the internal organ specially the brain. Other car accident main injuries for children are like brain damage,epilepsy and spinal cord injury.

Even using baby car seat also have specific requirements like:

#Always use the correct car seat for the age, weight and height of your child. A car seat with a 3 or 5 point harness is recommended by safety experts. (5 point harness is safest.) Do not use infant carriers, travel beds, backpacks carriers, etc. in place of a car seat.

#Infants less than one year and less than 20 pounds must be placed in a rear facing car seat. Most infant carrier style car seats can only be used until 20 pounds. After that, use a convertible car seat still rear facing. Make sure that the car seat is rated to at least 30 pounds rear facing.

Swim-Swim on the way!

As usual weekend will be the best time to bring our children for a short trip or vacation. Ask your children between playground and water, most of them will choose water instead of land. When we go for water trip, a theme park will be the best option. In Melaka, the best place to go for a swim with your family is AFamosa Water World. The park offer variety of water playing field that will let your child forget eating the whole day and they will end up sleeping in the car while going home. Usually the theme park don’t put any requirement of age for children to use all the theme park features as long as their parents are there. We can seem even babies also in the water with their parents. Safety first! Lets take a look the available swimming aid available in the market for your children:-

Old skool numbering system…

I think It’s from British, the system I mean. I like to go to the community clinic when it’s come to my baby immunization routine. From my first child to the second. In fact, when I was a kid, I usually accompanying my mother to the community clinic for routine checkup of my baby brother / sister . Now it turn me to go checkup with my own baby. The system has not change since I was a kid. The community will usually have 2 nurses that can be a midwife and specialize in mother and baby care.

The clinic surround by a tranquil atmosphere..

Every community & village will have one community clinic and everybody in the community will recognize their nurses on duty. If there are exchange and old nurses must be transferred to other places, the village headman will announce the new nurses so everybody will take alert.When a women pregnant, they will go to the community clinic and registered to get the government red book. This government red book will be used by the nurse to monitor mother and baby development till the baby is delivered. Mother must come once a month to be check by the nurse and get their monthly vitamins and nutrient such as Folic Acid, B-Complex and Ascorbic Acid for free from the clinic.

The mother’s chart book…

IF the mother don’t come according to the schedule, they will come to visit you at home to see how is your condition. I know the nurses at my home town community clinic very well and we are like friends. They also live there at the clinic. So if an emergency happen and you history is good, they can help to deliver the baby at home. When the baby is born, for the first week, they will visit you at home to help and educate the mother on dealing with the newborn. IF anything unusual detected at the baby such as jaundice, they will refer the case to the Hospital.

Only for weighing the baby…

I never go the the private clinic to get my baby immunization, not just because it is subsidize by the government, it is more about the good relationship between me and the staff at the clinic.

The jab, my baby only cry once than smile again…

I already took my baby Ryan out when about a month old to buy some toddlers shirt at Jusco. Then after that bringing him to other relative houses during Eid Fitr. When not work in Saturday or Sunday, I will bring baby Ryan where ever I go except if I have official office work or event. Usually we are afraid to bring our newborn go out to see the world outside home because fear of infection or accident.

I already Search over the Internet if there are any certain age of newborn before bringing them out, but there is no certain age limit. Yes we can bring our newborn out to public if we are comfortable with it and capable of handling them.

A jealous sister trying to harm her baby brother…

Laura Jana, MD, and Jennifer Shu, MD, co-authors of Heading Home with Your Newborn: From Birth to Reality (American Academy Of Pediatrics, 2005) quote that :

As for how old baby should be before her first excursion, there’s just no certain right age and there’s no rule that says you can’t stop at the grocery store on the way home from the hospital with a newborn that is just a day or two old, says Shu. It’s up to you and depends on many factors, such as where you plan to go, who will be there, and even what the weather is like.Obviously, if it’s cold or rainy, baby is better of staying inside where it’s warm and dry…

But the doctor also advice to avoid crowded or smaller place with many people as the newborn will easily picking germs. We just can’t simply give medication to a newborn when they get a fever. When at public, try also to discourage many people to touch the baby like carrying them like passing a baton. It is best for the baby just sit at the baby stroller and rest.

When go out don’t forget this following basic for newborn:

# Clothes (vests, sleepsuits, cardigans),
# nappies (if using reusable nappies, you’ll need sterilising solution and buckets),
# nappy rash cream,
# cotton wool,
# baby lotion,
# changing mat,
# cot (a Moses basket is fine for the first few months, and is easy to carry from room to room),
# cot sheets and cot blankets, and
# a pram or buggy suitable for a newborn

Just about 35 days and Rayn is smiling and laughing happily. He start to making uuuhhh….aahhh sound too. Ryan is more quick than my first child Nurina. Nurina started to laughing and respond to adult trying to be funny at her when her age was about 2 month old.
