Malaysia wins gold at Chelsea Flower ShowMalaysia won a gold medal at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show 2010.
Announcing the win at the launch of the first full-sized tropical garden in the history of Royal Horticultural Show since it established in 1804, Malaysian Tourism Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said the win had given the ministry the drive, confidence and commitment in creating parks and gardens as its latest tourism product.
The RM2mil Malaysia Garden has been a crowd-magnet since the event was launched by Queen Elizabeth II on Monday (24.05.2010).
The 220-sq metre garden was created by award-winning garden designers James Wong and David Cubero and Amphibian Designs.
The chic, ultra-modern re-envisioning of a traditional Malay village garden, has a calm reflective pool and a pavilion framing and providing a shady retreat from the sun.
There were about 50 species of flora from Malaysia’s tropical rainforest in the garden.
