Melaka, September 2009 – Some 80 orphans and poor children of the Madrasah Annuriah Addiniah, Sungai Udang were treated to a sumptuous kampung-style dinner to break their fast hosted by Renaissance Melaka Hotel, at its grand ballroom recently.

This yearly event has been the hotel’s tradition for many years. The Management and Renaissance Caring Club (RCC) took the opportunity to share the moment with the less fortunate.

The children, aged between three and 18, also received duit raya from the Hotel General Manager, Thomas Salg, and goodies bags containing candy, cookies and other goodies for all the children.

This effort is part of Marriott International’s Spirit To Serve commitment to addressing the needs of the community especially the underprivileged. The dinner is the way of spreading of love and gives the children a moment of joy.

Hotel general manager Thomas Salg said that the hotel associates cares for the well being of the underprivileged people, especially orphans who rarely get the chance to enjoy such a dinner.

‘I’m sure this programme brings a lot of joy to these children who have been deprived of the family environment that most of us are blessed with,’ he added.

It was also a thrilling and wonderful time for the children who were also supplied with unlimited servings of ice cream together with traditional mouth-watering dishes. The children had so much fun along the way!

In addition, children have enjoyed fun quizzes and interaction games prepared by RCC and each of them received gift for the participation. The Hotel also invited two 501st Legion Star Wars armors of Storm Trooper and Tie-Fighter Pilot to grace the event. The children were immensely entertained and amused by the presence of the Star Wars armors where they had the opportunity to snap pictures and see the armors in ‘live-action’.
