DESPITE the global financial crisis, the Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival (MMSC) 2008 revealed that MasterCard members spent about US$1.18 billion (RM4.13 billion) in just 59 days.
A total of 15.9 million transactions were made during the sales from July 5 to Sept 1, a 3.5% increase in the average number of transactions per day compared with the same period last year.
“The average spending per day rose from US$16.2 million (RM58.3 million) to US$19.9 million (RM72 million), reflecting an increase of 22.7% from last year’s sale,” MasterCard Worldwide Malaysia and Brunei vice-president and senior country manager Jim Cheah said.
