Malaysia First SME’s Street Mall

Melaka will have a RM100million ‘Street Mall’ for promoting and exhibit SME’s products from all over Malaysia. Melaka CM said that the project is the first investment from Ministry of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Malaysia (MECD) under UDA Holdings Bhd (UDA). The joint venture project with Melaka City Hall (MBMB) expected to be completed end of 2010.

The ‘Street Mall’ will be develop in 2 phase, 1st will be development of 300 commercial lots and one 4 star hotel with 240 rooms. The project is located at a 2.4 hectare land at Tun Ali Street (Old Melaka Wet Market). When completed this mall will be a one stop center for exhibiting, promoting, distributing and selling SME’s products from all over Malaysia. This will create a huge network of local products sales. Priority will be given to the manufacturer of products from SDSI (One District One Products) and others.

The building concept will be like Bugis Jonker in Singapore that using indoor theme design and utilizing Melaka River as it’s main landscape.
