Jonker Walk @ The Antiques Paradise

Jonker Walk

Jonker Walk, is a pedestrian walkway along Jalan Hang Jebat (known as Jonker Street) and along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (known as Heeren Streets) in the hearts of Melaka Town. The streets become a marketplace / nite market every friday, saturday and sunday. This is the place to shop that you cannot find at the others place. The streets make up about 140 rows pre-war shoplots featuring antique shops, salons, restaurants, dining outlets, acupuncture clinic, spa, boutique hotel, longevity shop and others. This place also famous as the antiques paradise. You may just be rewarded with authentic artefacts such as porcelain or ceramics pieces that can be date as far back as 300 years. The buildings also are immaculately constructed with elaborate carvings on its pillars and walls. That is so happening. Opening hours for different shop vary but generally from Monday to Thursday, most open from 10am – 6pm and during the nite market, many stay open until 11pm. Cultural performances are held regularly on the street and provide the fascinating atmosphere. Chinese opera, dancing and wushu performances staged in the heart of old Melaka. Several beautiful Peranakan houses such as the Tan family mansion, now a modern boutique hotel, Puri Hotel are worth to visit. Also, you can see The Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum that gives a view into the lifestyle of the this community. You must visit here. Come here and have this unique experience once in your life.

Masjid Selat Melaka – Sunset at the Melaka Strait Mosque

The straits of Melaka is the Longest and the busiest strait in the world. The important of the strait is equivalent to Suez Canal or the Panama Canal. The strait is named after the State of Melaka because of the Long History of Melaka Sultanate Empire 600 years ago. Stretching about 500mile between Malaysian Peninsular (West ) and the Island of Sumatra, Indonesia.

State Government of Melaka has build a Mosque at the coast of Selat Melaka in Bandar Hilir. Located at a Man Made Island named Pulau Melaka (Island of Melaka) is the one and only Mosque build at the coast of the Strait and at the water level of the sea. It will look like floating if the water level is high / tide happen. The Mosque or known as ‘Masjid Selat’, Costing about MYR10 Million. The Opening Ceremony was Done in 24th November 2006 by the Supreme Ruler of Malaysia (King) – Yang Dipertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail.
